2023 United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Team
LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty midfielder Gabe Findley has been selected to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-North Region second team. The squad was announced earlier today.
Findley becomes the first Flames' men's soccer player to be named to an all-region team since midfielder Kevin Mendoza was selected to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region team.
Findley garnered his first all-conference selection this season by being named to the Ohio Valley Conference first team. The senior started all 18 games for the Flames, scoring five goals and assisting on three others for 13 points, all career highs. He also netted two game-winning goals.
Findley's five goals tied him for second on the Flames and eighth in the OVC. The Lynchburg, Va. native also finished the year 10th in the conference in points.
In its first season as a member of the OVC, the midfielder helped Liberty finish in third place in the conference standings with a 4-4-2 record. Overall, the Flames posted a 9-6-3 mark, the most wins by a Liberty team under five-year head coach Kelly Findley and the most victories by a Flames squad since the 2017 team went 10-6-1 in 2017.
Liberty finished the year 22nd in the nation in scoring offense by averaging 1.94 goals per game. The Flames outscored their opponents, 35-25, on the season. Liberty's 35 goals were the most scored in a season by a Flames team since the 2011 squad netted 38.
