Good Named USA Field Hockey U-16 Assistant Coach

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty field hockey assistant coach Alan Good was named an assistant coach for the USA Field Hockey U-16 team.
The U.S. U-16 and U-18 Women's National Team Selection Camp took place last weekend in Charlotte, N.C. The named squads will meet in February and March 2024 and prepare for international tours.
Good is one of seven assistant coaches for the U-16 squad and is joined by Ange Bradley, Hannah Prince, Scott Tupper, Will Byrne, Maddy Sposito and Barb Weinberg.
In four seasons as an assistant coach for Liberty, Good has helped the team capture two BIG EAST Championship titles and three BIG EAST regular season titles. During the fall 2021 season, Good and Liberty posted a 20-3 record, won the BIG EAST Tournament crown and advanced all the way to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship title game.
Good and the Lady Flames have reached the NCAA Tournament in three straight seasons (fall 2021, 2022, 2023). Liberty received its first-ever at-large bid this fall. The Lady Flames finished with a 17-3 overall record and won the outright BIG EAST regular season title.
In four seasons in Lynchburg, Good and Liberty have posted a 62-17 record.
Good has coached 2021 NFHCA Division I National Player of the Year and Honda Sport Award winner Jill Bolton along with fellow All-Americans Azul Iritxity Irigoyen, Bethany Dykema and Daniella Rhodes. Dykema was recently added to the U.S. Women's National Team. Good has also coached Reagan Underwood, who is competing for the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team at the 2023 Junior World Cup in Chile.
Good has coached within the USA's Olympic development pipeline as a U16 Nexus Championships head coach and at regional high-performance centers in Richmond and Norfolk. He also has a presence with USA Field Hockey as a coach educator, responsible for delivery of the National Governing Body (NGB) Level 1 & 2 coaching education courses nationwide. Good holds Level 2 coaching certifications from USA Field Hockey and Hockey Ireland, as well as Level 1 from Hockey Ireland.
