LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty guard Asia Boone completed a sweep of December's CUSA Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week honors on Tuesday, winning the award for the fourth week in a row.
This is the longest streak of CUSA Freshman of the Week honors since WKU's Mya Meredith also claimed four straight awards between Jan. 3-24, 2022. The last Lady Flame to win four consecutive freshman of the week honors was Keyen Green, who accomplished the feat in the Big South Conference spanning Feb. 6-27, 2017.
Boone, who hails from San Diego, Calif., played a leading role in the Lady Flames' 65-52 home win over WAC preseason favorite Grand Canyon on Wednesday. She set career highs for points (18), three-pointers made (4) and steals (5). Boone's five steals were the most by a Liberty player in two years. Her final triple came with 52 seconds remaining in the contest and helped seal the final outcome.
Liberty (4-9) will close out non-conference play with a pair of home games this week. The Lady Flames will play host to crosstown foe Randolph Friday at 7 p.m. before welcoming Tennessee to Lynchburg for the first time Sunday at 2 p.m.
