
No. 6 seed Eastern Illinois Eliminates No. 3 seed Liberty on Penalty Kicks

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – After playing to a scoreless tie over 120 minutes in the first-ever Ohio Valley Men's Soccer Quarterfinal game, the No. 6 seed Eastern Illinois Panthers advanced to the conference's semifinals on penalty kicks, 3-1, over the No. 3 seed Liberty Flames Sunday at Ralph Korte Stadium.
Despite outshooting Eastern Illinois, 26-8, during regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods, Liberty was never able to score as the Panthers' defense held tight.
In the penalty kick phase, Eastern Illinois made its first, third and fourth attempts, while Liberty only made its second attempt.
Liberty's season comes to an end at 9-6-3. Eastern Illinois moves to 4-9-5.
