LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames men's soccer team will travel to Statesboro, Ga., for a match against the Georgia Southern Eagles on Wednesday. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Bo Pitts Field.
The Flames were edged by the FGCU Eagles 3-2 on Friday evening at Osborne Stadium. Forward Samson Kpardeh scored both goals for Liberty.

- Liberty and Georgia Southern will meet for the first time since 2003 on Wednesday. The Eagles won all three meetings between 2000-03 between the two teams on the pitch.
- After splitting a pair of games in San Diego to start the season, the Flames are 1-1 on the road. Liberty defeated San Diego State 2-1 to open 2026 and fell to then No. 18 San Diego 3-1.
- Forward Samson Kpardeh, who was selected as the Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week for the season's opening week, recorded his first multi-goal game of 2026 on Friday night against FGCU. Pablo Matavele had an assist on Kpardeh's second goal.
- Kpardeh leads Liberty with four goals and eight points. He is tied for the SoCon lead in both categories with VMI's Yeirin Mejia
- Midfielder Javan Ochieng leads Liberty with two assists. Four Flames, including Matavele, have one assist.
- Dan Rose has played all 270 minutes in goal for Liberty. The sophomore has posted a .2.33 goals-against average and a .533 save percentage over the three games.
- The Flames have had nine transfers join their ranks for 2026. Highlighting Liberty's transfers are Kpardeh, Ochieng and Rose. Kpardeh and Ochieng both played at Gardner-Webb under Wells last season, while Rose started seven games for Marshall in 2025, posting a 1.15 goals-against average. Kpardeh was voted to the Big South All-Conference first team and All-Region team last season.
- The Flames have players from 13 different countries and six different continents.
- Liberty will participate in the Southern Conference (SoCon) this season after three years as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). The Flames were picked to finish third in the SoCon Preseason Poll. Nationally ranked Furman (No. 3) and UNCG (No. 14) were selected ahead of Liberty in the poll.
