
Liberty Softball Announces Challenging 2024 Schedule

2024 Liberty Softball Schedule
The Liberty softball team will compete in a tournament at Oklahoma's Love's Field, highlighting its 2024 schedule. The Lady Flames, under the direction of 11th-year Head Coach Dot Richardson, will face six teams who finished the 2023 season ranked inside the NFCA Top 25.
Liberty will compete in a tournament hosted by Oklahoma at its brand-new stadium, Love's Field, March 1-3. While in Norman, Okla., the Lady Flames will face Oklahoma and Louisiana twice each, with a single game versus Tulsa.  Â
Liberty will face three-time defending national champion Oklahoma for the second year in a row. The Lady Flames will also take on 2023 Super Regional participants Clemson, Duke, Louisiana and Oregon, 2023 Regional finalists Charlotte, LSU, Middle Tennessee and Virginia Tech and Regional teams Missouri, Notre Dame and UCF. All told, Liberty will face 12 teams which competed in the 2023 NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
Among Liberty's 2024 opponents, Oklahoma (1), Clemson (9), Duke (10), Oregon (15), LSU (16) and Louisiana (18) all appeared in the final 2023 NFCA National poll. Liberty faces 13 teams that finished the 2023 season in the top 50 in RPI, including seven of the top 25.
Liberty will play 22 of its 56 games at Liberty Softball Stadium. The Liberty Softball Classic (Feb. 23-25) welcomes Morgan State, Penn, Penn State and Saint Francis (Pa.). The Lady Flames also host strong regional opponents Duke (March 12), Charlotte (March 20), Virginia (March 26), North Carolina (April 17) and Virginia Tech (May 1).
The Lady Flames, in their first year in Conference USA will host four conference series, beginning with Jacksonville State, March 22-24. Liberty will also host Louisiana Tech (March 28-30), Western Kentucky (April 5-7) and New Mexico State (April 19-21). Liberty's CUSA away series include FIU (March 8-10), Sam Houston (March 22-24), Middle Tennessee (April 12-14) and UTEP (April 26-28). Â
The Lady Flames will open the season Feb. 9-11 in Clearwater, Fla., at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic. Liberty will take on St. John's, Oregon, Clemson, Missouri and Notre Dame in that tournament. After a midweek game at UCF, Liberty will remain in Florida for THE Spring Games in Leesburg, Fla. The Lady Flames will face Big Ten teams Illinois, Iowa, Ohio State and Penn State, along with former Big South rival Coastal Carolina.
Liberty's nonconference away schedule includes Virginia Tech (April 3), Virginia (April 9) and Longwood (April 23), ending with a three-game series at LSU, May 5-7.
The Lady Flames earned their third straight NCAA postseason appearance in 2023, receiving the first at-large berth in program history. New Mexico State will host the 2024 CUSA Softball Championship, May 8-11 in Las Cruces, N.M. The winner of the CUSA Softball Championship will earn the conference's automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
