
Lovato Secures Singles Win No. 100 in Flames Hidden Dual

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Esther Lovato made Flames tennis history on Saturday by grabbing career singles win No. 100 on Saturday with a victory over Delaware's Slade Coetzee 7-5, 6-1. Lovato's historic win headlined the first day of the Flames Hidden Dual.
Liberty hosts the five-time team, weekend event with participants including Campbell, Delaware, East Carolina and Elon.
Liberty had a strong day Saturday going 8-7 in singles and 5-2 in doubles. Three Lady Flames, Lovato, Tiffany Nguyen and Marina Davtyan, finished the day with a 2-0 record.
Davtyan remains undefeated after five singles matches in the fall season.
Lovato secured career win No. 101 with a triumph over Mialy Ranaivo 6-2, 6-0.

- Lovato added to her all-time Liberty singles win record with two wins on Saturday. Following her milestone victory. Lovato's achievement was announced across the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center to the surprise of an unaware Lovato. Lovato ended the day with a 4-0 overall record.
- Davtyan continued her strong start to the fall season with a 3-1 overall day (2-0 singles). Davtyan took down Lizzete Reding (Elon) 6-2, 6-2 and Tamsin Hart (Campbell) 6-2, 6-1.
- Nguyen played to a similar 3-1 overall record (2-0 singles) but had to fight hard for each one. The senior defeated Elon's Sibel Tanik 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) before playing to another third set against Campbell's Alina Vasilenko 6-7 (7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).
- Freshman Maria Turchetto responded well after losing her first collegiate match to Elon's Miray Konar 6-4, 7-5. Turchetto bounced back to best Campbell's Eeva Ristola 7-5, 6-2.
- Daniella O'Neill picked up a motivating three-set victory over Elon's Simone Bergeron, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). O'Neill is returning from an injury that forced her to redshirt her freshman year. O'Neill and Elsa Kirch were paired for a doubles match, topping Campbell's Veronika Prospalova and Ristola 6-3.
- No two Lady Flames were paired for the two matches together in doubles on Saturday. Just two, Lovato and Turchetto, went 2-0 in doubles today.
- Freshman, Sadie Daavittila, was 1-3 on Saturday, picking up a victory on doubles with Esther Lovato. The two took down Elon's Mariana Reding and Miray Konar 6-3.
