
Liberty Wins 8th Straight, 9-7 at Louisville in 8 Innings

Liberty got a two-run homer from Devyn Howard in the top of the eighth, earning a 9-7 eight-inning victory over Louisville at Ulmer Field to extend the Lady Flames’ winning streak to eight games.
Liberty improves to 22-12 on the season with its first extra-innings win of the year. Louisville falls to 18-13 on the campaign. The Cardinals entered the game 4-0 in extra-innings games after defeating No. 15 Clemson 4-2 in eight innings on Sunday, while the Lady Flames were 0-3 in extra-innings contests in 2022 prior to today’s win.
Turning Point
- In game of major momentum swings, the contest saw ties at 1-1, 3-3, 5-5 and 7-7. Lou Allan gave Liberty an insurance run with a two-out RBI single in the sixth. However, Taylor Roby tied it at 7-7 by hitting a two-out, two-run homer in the home half of the sixth.
- Louisville rallied with two hits after two outs in the seventh, but left them stranded on a groundout.
- Liberty cashed in during the top of the seventh, as Raigan Barret singled with one out before Howard’s blast gave Liberty a two-run cushion. Karlie Keeney worked through trouble in the bottom of the eighth, yielding two singles, but a pair of flyouts ended the game.
