The Liberty softball team is ranked No. 24 in three major national polls entering the 2022 season.
The Lady Flames are ranked No. 24 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Softball Top 25 Preseason Coaches Poll, D1Softball.com Top 25 Preseason Rankings and Softball America Top 25.
This is the second time in program history that Liberty has been ranked in the Top 25 entering a season, as Liberty was voted No. 22 in the 2019 Softball America Preseason Top 25.
This is the fourth straight NFCA Coaches Poll where Liberty has appeared in the Top 25. The Lady Flames were ranked No. 25 on May 10 before moving up to No. 24 the following week and finishing 25th in the postseason NFCA poll.
The 2022 USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll is voted on by 32 NCAA Division I head coaches, one representing each conference. The first poll of the regular season will be published on Feb. 15.
The Lady Flames finished the 2021 season with a 44-15 record, including 16-2 in ASUN North Division play. Liberty, the No. 1 seed in the North Division, claimed its fourth conference tournament title by capturing the ASUN Softball Championship.
Competing in the NCAA Softball Championship for the fourth time, Liberty made its second appearance in a Regional final. The Lady Flames served as the No. 2 seed for the Knoxville Regional, eliminating Eastern Kentucky and the host No. 9 national seed Tennessee Lady Vols. Liberty fell to eventual Womenās College World Series semifinalist James Madison twice at the Regional.
Liberty opens its 2022 season with 10 games in the state of Florida, beginning Feb. 11 against Kentucky in Leesburg, Fla. The Lady Flames open the home schedule with an 11-game homestand, beginning with the Liberty Softball Classic, Feb. 25-26.
