2023 Liberty Track & Field Schedule
Liberty Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lance Bingham has announced the Flames’ 2023 outdoor track & field schedule. Highlights include the annual Liberty Twilight Qualifier, two visits to California and a return to the Penn Relays.
At Home in the Hill City
Liberty will close out the regular season with the annual Liberty Twilight Qualifier on May 3. The Flames’ lone home meet at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex will serve as Senior Day.
The Flames will also travel across town for a trio of meets, including one at the University of Lynchburg (Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational on March 24-25) and two at Randolph College (WildCat Track Festival on April 8 and WildCat Twilight on April 22).
California Dreaming
After making three visits to California in 2022, the Flames have two trips to the Golden State scheduled for 2023. Liberty will send a group of distance runners to the Stanford Invitational (March 31-April 1). The Flames will later compete in two meets in the Los Angeles area the same week (Bryan Clay Invitational on April 13-15 and Mt. SAC Relays on April 12-15).
Back to Penn
Liberty will travel to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays on April 27-29. It will mark the Flames’ first appearance at the prestigious meet since 2017. No members of the current roster have competed at the Penn Relays in a Liberty uniform.
Taking Up Residence in the Tar Heel State
The Flames will send athletes to North Carolina during each of the first four weekends of the outdoor campaign, alternating between High Point and the Research Triangle.
Liberty’s visits to High Point include the season-opening Bob Davidson Memorial Invitational (March 17-18) and VertKlasse Meeting (March 31-April 1). They will also head to the Raleigh Relays (March 23-25 in Raleigh, N.C.) and the Duke Invitational (April 6-8 in Durham, N.C.).
Championship Season
Liberty’s final appearance at the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., for the 14th consecutive season. The meet will take place at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium, May 11-13.
Liberty will head right back to the same venue for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet two weeks later (May 24-27).
The 2023 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place in Austin, Texas, which last hosted the event in 2019.
