
Liberty Wins 10 Matches on First Day of Final Hidden Dual

The Lady Flames racked up 10 total wins on day one of their final fall event, Liberty Hidden Dual #3, at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
Liberty players collected six singles victories on the day, led by 2-0 efforts from Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Esther Lovato. In doubles, four different Lady Flames units picked up victories. The two-day event features Liberty, Marshall, William & Mary, Richmond and UNCG.
Matches began at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday morning as courts were given the opportunity to dry from yesterday's rain. By late morning, the action took place at the Liberty Tennis Complex stadium courts as well as at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center for the rest of the day.
Key Stats & Notes
• Liberty finished a combined 4-4 in doubles and 6-8 in singles today.
• The Lady Flames' two singles wins leaders this fall, Parra Romero and Lovato, added to their totals with two victories apiece. Parra Romero took down Johanna Strom of Marshall in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, followed by 6-4, 6-4 result over William & Mary's Hedda Gurholt later in the afternoon. Parra Romero is 10-3 in singles so far during her sophomore campaign.
• Parra Romero was the only Liberty player today to win four total matches (two doubles, two singles).
• Like Parra Romero, Lovato's singles triumphs today were both in two sets. The Austin, Texas native topped Marshall's Aisling McGrane 6-1, 6-2 and defeated Sofiya Kuzina of William & Mary by that identical score (6-1, 6-2). Lovato improves to 9-3 in singles competition, this fall. She is 77-15 in singles in her time at Liberty and ranks third in program history for career wins.
• Sophomores Bruna Sampaio and Elsa Kirch collected one victory apiece today in singles. Sampaio bested Marshall's Kylie Fisher 6-2, 7-5. Kirch knocked off Katy Limanen of Marshall in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) for his first singles win of the fall.
• Four Liberty doubles teams went 1-0 today: Parra Romero/Marina Davtyan, Tiffany Nguyen/Micaela Ode Mitre, Sampaio/Alexandra Almborg and Nguyen/Parra Romero. Of those individual players, Parra Romero, Ode Mitre and Nguyen each posted 2-0 records.
• Nguyen and Ode Mitre continued their winning ways, improved to a team 7-1 in doubles. The tandem prevailed 6-1 against Richmond's Lara Bakhaya and Elizabeth Novak. Ode Mitre is Liberty's winningest doubles player this fall at 10-3.
• Nguyen's second victory of the day came in the afternoon with Parra Romero, a 6-2 final over Kuzina and Raffaela Alhach of the Tribe.
• Parra Romero's other doubles triumph came in the morning with Davtyan by a 6-1 score. The pair bested Johanna Strom and Doroteja Joksovic of Marshall.
• Sampaio and Almborg took care of business without losing a game (6-0) versus Marshall's Fisher/Limanen.

Tomorrow's schedule has been adjusted. William & Mary and Marshall will play at 8 a.m. Liberty will play UNCG/Richmond at 1 p.m., with doubles taking place first.
