
Lady Flames Post 9-2 Mark Against UNCG, Sunday

Liberty posted a 9-2 combined record against the UNCG Spartans, Sunday afternoon on day two of Liberty Hidden Dual #3.
The Lady Flames went a perfect 4-0 in doubles and were 5-2 in singles. Liberty finishes with an 8-4 overall doubles mark and 11-10 singles record over the course of the two-day event, its final fall tournament. Liberty Hidden Dual #3 featured Liberty, Marshall, William & Mary, Richmond and UNCG.
Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Esther Lovato were both victorious in singles today, and both players finished 3-0 on the weekend. Parra Romero won another doubles contest this afternoon and finishes the tournament a perfect 6-0 (3-0 doubles, 3-0 singles).Â
Key Stats & Notes
• Parra Romero knocked off UNCG’s Arina Babkova in straight sets 7-5, 6-0 for her team-best 11th fall win. The Bucaramanga, Colombia native is 11-3 this fall after finishing 11-2 last year as a freshman. Parra Romero’s triumph today was the 40th of her career, and she is 40-8 overall in one-and-a-half seasons at Liberty.
• Parra Romero teamed up with Tiffany Nguyen for their second doubles win in as many days. The duo downed Olivia Gallagher and Hanna Giddings of the Spartans 6-1. Both Parra Romero and Nguyen were 3-0 in doubles, this weekend.
• Lovato faced Gallagher in singles competition and won 6-1, 6-2. The Lady Flames junior claimed all three of her singles matches this weekend by identical 6-1, 6-2 scores. Lovato closes the fall with a 10-3 singles mark.
• Prior to her third singles win of the event, Lovato teamed up with Marina Davtyan in doubles for a 7-5 result over UNCG’s Raegan Mitchell and Babkova.
• Two other Liberty duos claimed matches – Alexandra Almborg/Micaela Ode Mitre and Maretha Burger/Elsa Kirch. Almborg and Ode Mitre knocked off Juliana Craft and Luna Urso 6-1. Burger and Kirch also won 6-1 against Claudi Murdasanu and Ella Olexa.
• Nguyen, Ode Mitre and Kirch all collected singles victories as well on Sunday.
• Nguyen was a straight-sets (6-4, 6-2) winner against the Spartans’ Alexandra Dodashev Enbert. Ode Mitre prevailed 6-1, 6-2 against Craft, while Kirch upended Olexa in two sets (6-1, 7-5).
• Liberty finishes the fall with a 30-22 doubles mark for a .577 winning percentage. The Lady Flames were 52-52 in singles (.500).
