No. 16 Liberty fell 2-0 to No. 7 Louisville, Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
The Cardinals (10-3) pick up their 10th victory of the season, dropping the Lady Flames to 8-5 overall in the process.

Turning Point
Louisville scored both of its goals in the game's first 17 minutes and held on for the shutout win. Liberty has been shut out three times this year.
The Cardinals' goals came from Aimee Plumb, her fifth of the year, and Rylie Wollerton, her first of the 2022 campaign. Plumb scored off a rebound on Louisville's third penalty corner in the early going for a 1-0 lead for the visitors at the 5:47 mark. Early in the second quarter (16:53 mark), Wollerton found the back of the cage on an impressive sliding effort. The Cardinals freshman finished a lead pass from Kelsey McCrudden, sliding from the left side and popping the ball past Liberty goalkeeper Azul Iritxity Irigoyen.
Liberty attempted six shots in the game, with four on cage. The Lady Flames played a one-player advantage for the final 5:58 of the contest but could not convert. Louisville netminder Sasha Elliot made four saves in recording her fourth shutout of 2022.

• Louisville outshot Liberty 15-6 in the match and held a 10-4 edge in shots on frame. The Cardinals won seven penalty corners while holding the Lady Flames to a season-low one penalty corner chance.
• Liberty junior goalkeeper Azul Iritxity Irigoyen made a season-best eight saves on the day. This is the first time Iritxity Irigoyen has had eight or more saves in a match since making nine saves against No. 5 Maryland in last year's NCAA Field Hockey Championship Final Four (Nov. 19, 2021).
• Forward Daniela Rhodes led the Liberty offense with three shots, all on goal. Louisville was led by Julie Kouijzer, who attempted a game-high four shots (two on goal).
• This is the third time Liberty has been shut out in 2022 and first since falling 3-0 at No. 1 Northwestern, Sept. 9.
• The Lady Flames drop to 4-3 on their home turf this season.
• Liberty falls to 1-3 all-time against Louisville. Today's win was Louisville's first in Lynchburg.
