
Parra Romero Earns Ranked Win Over Oregon’s No. 107 Leuscher

Liberty’s Maria Juliana Parra Romero earned a ranked win over Oregon’s No. 107 Sophie Leuscher on the fourth day of the ITA Women’s All-American Championships.
Parra Romero’s victory over Leuscher, the first ranked win of her Liberty career, came in two sets, 6-3, 6-2 at Cary Tennis Park. The triumph was her fourth of the event. She is the first player in program history to win four matches at the ITA All-American Championships, a prestigious tournament featuring the best collegiate players.
In her second match of the day, Parra Romero faced another ranked foe in No. 71 Ava Markham, Wisconsin’s No. 1 player. Markham defeated the Lady Flames sophomore 7-6 (2), 6-3.

• Parra Romero wraps up her time at the event with a 4-2 record in singles.
• Parra Romero faced three ranked foes – No. 58 Mary Stoiana (Texas A&M), No. 71 Markham and No. 107 Leuscher.
• Five of her six opponents at the tournament were from Power-5 schools. The only opponent not from a Power-5 institution was Charlotte’s No. 1 singles player, Margaux Maquet, who was nationally ranked during the 2022 season for a 49ers squad which finished the year ranked No. 48 in the country.
• The Liberty sophomore was 3-0 in pre-qualifying and 1-2 in qualifying.
• Through two events this fall, Parra Romero holds a 7-2 singles record.
