
Liberty Finishes With 3 Wins on Third Day of ITA Atlantic Regional

Liberty finished with three wins on the third day of the ITA Atlantic Regional, Saturday at Virginia Tech’s Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The Lady Flames tallied two singles wins and one doubles triumph in what was their final day of competition at the tournament.
Liberty wraps up the event with 7-9 singles mark and 4-5 doubles record.
Key Stats & Notes
• Liberty’s one doubles win today came from Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Priscila Janikian in the doubles main draw round of 32 by an 8-5 score over Richmond’s Lara Bakhaya and Elizabeth Novak.
• Parra Romero and Janikian, the No. 14 seed, met No. 7 seed Alexandra Viktorovich and Allison Isaacs of Old Dominion in the round of 16. The ODU duo prevailed 8-5.
• The Lady Flames’ singles victories on Saturday were both in consolation draws. Liberty’s Parra Romero defeated Mount St. Mary’s’ Victoria Papadopoulou in two sets, 6-4, 7-6 (6). The Lady Flames sophomore finishes the event with a 1-1 record and is 8-3 on the fall.
• Micaela Ode Mitre earned the other singles victory with her 6-4, 6-4 result versus Marshall’s Rieke Gillar. The Liberty junior improves to 5-1 in singles, this season.
