Turning Point
With the game even at 1-1 through 30 minutes, Liberty junior Reagan Underwood kept the score tied with her second career defensive save early in the third quarter (32:47). The midfielder prevented UVA forward Laura Janssen's shot from finding the back of the cage.
The two teams remained tied at 1-all until the Cavaliers' final penalty corner of the match. UVA's Noa Boterman swept a ball through the middle of the circle to Adela Iacobucci, whose tip sailed into the top half of the goal for a 2-1 lead at the 55:54 mark. Iacobucci's goal, the second of her senior campaign, proved to be the difference.
Virginia was assessed a yellow card in the 59th minute, giving Liberty a one-player advantage for the final 1:33. Liberty entered the circle late in the match, but the UVA defense held firm to secure the one-goal victory.
