Underwood, Vicars and Parsley-Blocker to Participate in 2021 USA Field Hockey YWNC

2021 Young Women's National Championship Rosters
Liberty field hockey's Reagan Underwood and Maddie Vicars, along with head coach Nikki Parsley-Blocker, will be participating in USA Field Hockey's prestigious 2021 Young Women's National Championship (YWNC), starting on Wednesday.
The five-day event will run from Wednesday through Sunday. Underwood and Vicars are two of 162 female athletes who are split up into 10 teams who will compete at the championship, hosted at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. The event features the top athletes in the country in their respective divisions competing to be crowned national champions.
"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to coach at the Young Women's National Championship," stated Parsley-Blocker. "This will also be an incredible opportunity for Reagan and Maddie to be poured into by some of the best coaches in the country and an opportunity to play alongside national team members."
Parsley-Blocker will be coaching the Freedom squad for the tournament. This is Parsley-Blocker's third time working with USA Field Hockey in helping decide the junior national team. Underwood is on the Brave squad, led by current Ohio State assistant coach Kate Lipton. Vicars will compete for the Unity squad, coached by current Longwood head coach Iain Byers.
The YWNC serves as the initial selection opportunity for the 2021-22 U.S. U-21/22 and Women's National Development Teams. Athletes will also be evaluated for the senior U.S. Women's National Team.
Underwood earned BIG EAST All-Tournament team honors during her first season at Liberty, this past spring. The Sinking Spring, Pa., native started all 16 games as a midfielder for the Lady Flames. Underwood recorded two assists and made one defensive save on the season. Vicars, a defender who hails from Moseley, Va., appeared in three contests in her first season at Liberty.
