Turning Point

Beyond the Box Score
- Tennessee has won all 20 meetings all-time with Liberty in softball.
- Prior to Shipman's second-inning home run, Liberty had not allowed a run since the third inning against No. 1 Oklahoma on March 14, a span of 33 1/3 innings. That stretch also included a 10-inning shutout at then No. 13 Arkansas on March 16.
- Liberty had not played a game since March 20, a doubleheader sweep at Bellarmine.
- Kirby had pitched 18 1/3 shutout innings in a row, beginning with a 10-inning masterpiece at No. 13 Arkansas on Tuesday, prior to giving up a run in the third inning today.
- Liberty is 1-9 against Top 25 teams so far this season and 1-5 versus SEC opponents.
- Liberty received 12 votes in both the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Top 25 Poll and ESPN/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll today. Meanwhile, the Lady Vols were ranked 21st in the coaches poll and 18th in the media poll, both of which came out shortly before today's game.
- The Lady Flames' last trip to play at Tennessee was just over four years ago, as the Lady Vols swept a doubleheader on March 28, 2017. Two of today's Liberty starters (Amber Bishop-Riley and Emily Sweat) and Tennessee starting third baseman Chelsea Seggern, also started in both games of that doubleheader as freshmen.
