The host Old Dominion Monarchs scored twice in a 64-second span of the third quarter and edged the Liberty Flames 2-1, Friday at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
Fourth-ranked Liberty falls to 9-2 on the season and 7-2 in the BIG EAST. Meanwhile, 17th-ranked Old Dominion snaps a two-match losing streak and improves 5-3 overall and 5-2 in conference.
The Lady Flames' Daniella Rhodes scored her team-best 14th goal of the season late in the second quarter. Riley Taylor of the Monarchs scored the game winner in the 38th minute.

Turning Point
Liberty took a 1-0 lead into the break after Rhodes found the back of the cage at 26:40, assisted by Jill Bolton.
The Monarchs scored twice early in the third quarter to take the lead. ODU's Ilse Westera notched the equalizer at the 36:20 mark, assisted by Taylor. Taylor's go-ahead goal at 37:34 was a deflection into the left corner of the cage, assisted by Delphine Le Jeune.
ODU held off a Liberty charge in the fourth quarter, as the Monarchs played down a player for 12 minutes of the final frame. Liberty outshot ODU 6-1 over the final 15 minutes, but Monarchs goalkeeper Cam MacGillivray made two saves to preserve the victory for the hosts.

• Liberty outshot Old Dominion 11-8. Both teams earned three penalty corners.
• Liberty attempted 10 of its 11 shots after halftime. Bolton tallied a game-high six shots, three of which were on frame.
• Rhodes' goal was her 27th in 29 career games. Bolton's assist gives her 10 goals, 10 assists and 30 points on the year.
• The Lady Flames' one goal was a season low.
• Liberty surrendered multiple goals in a goal for only the third time this season. The other two instances were against UConn (three goals, March 13) and at No. 12 Duke (two goals, last Sunday).
• Friday's setback was the Lady Flames' first road loss of 2021. Liberty is 4-1 away from home, this season.
• The Lady Flames are 2-1 against the Monarchs this spring. Liberty defeated ODU twice at home in early March.
• Liberty is 6-5 all-time against ODU, including a 5-4 mark against the Monarchs since joining the BIG EAST in 2016.
