Liberty Flames midfielder Seth Clark has been selected to the ASUN Preseason Men's Soccer All-Conference team and preseason poll, released by the conference's league office this afternoon.
In their second year under head coach Kelly Findley, the Flames have been voted to finish sixth in the ASUN standings. The conference's head coaches selected FGCU to win the league, garnering 45 points and five first place votes.
Clark, who garners his first preseason accolades, was named to the ASUN All-Freshman team in 2019. The sophomore midfielder is one of two Liberty returners who started all 18 games, last season. He led the Flames with four assists and tied for the team lead in points with six during his freshman campaign. The Darfield, New Zealand native netted the game-winning tally in a 2-1 victory over Duquesne on Oct. 1.
With the 2020 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship shifted to the spring, the ASUN Conference will hold its fall sports seasons this spring as well. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic forcing travel restrictions, the seven-team conference will be divided into North (Liberty, Bellarmine and Lipscomb) and South (FGCU, Jacksonville, North Florida, Stetson) divisions. The North Division will play four league contests, while the South will play six league games.
The schedule is tentative and subject to change. Liberty will face Bellarmine and Lipscomb twice in ASUN play, meeting once on each school's home field. The Flames will open conference play at ASUN newcomer Bellarmine in Louisville, Ky. on March 6, before returning to Osborne Stadium to host Lipscomb on March 13. Bellarmine will come to Lynchburg on March 20. The Flames will then finish their conference regular season by traveling to Nashville, Tenn., to face Lipscomb on March 27.
Liberty opens its 2021 spring regular season schedule on Feb. 6 when it hosts Belmont Abbey at Osborne Stadium. Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
