The Liberty women's lacrosse squad will welcome the Winthrop Eagles to town for a 4 p.m. tilt, Wednesday afternoon at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
Liberty will carry a 1-2 record into the contest. The Lady Flames bested Furman 16-9 in their home opener, last Wednesday. The Eagles (0-3) are still in search of their first victory of 2020. They fell 11-7 at home to Cal, Sunday afternoon.
This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the former Big South Conference rivals. Winthrop holds a 6-3 edge in the series. However, the Lady Flames topped the Eagles 10-5 a season ago at Eagle Field in Rock Hill, S.C. In that contest, Liberty closed the game on a 6-0 run over the final 21:21 to secure the victory.

- Midfielder Carly White is currently second in the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.00) and 33rd in draw controls per contest (6.00). The senior captain has 95 career goals and needs five more to become the eighth player in program history with 100 goals.

- The Lady Flames rank sixth in the country in caused turnovers per game (13.33). Liberty led the nation in the category in 2018 and 2019 and finished third in the nation in 2017.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Soriero made 10 saves in the second half of the Lady Flames' win over Furman, last week. Prior to Soriero's 10-save half, the last Liberty netminder to make 10 stops in one half was Katherine Widrick at Richmond, March 2, 2018.
- Liberty won a program-record 14 games a season ago and reached the ASUN title game in its first year in the conference. The Eagles posted an 8-11 overall mark and reached the Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship title match in 2019. Both teams were picked to finish second in their respective preseason coaches polls.
