• The Flames will look to snap a three-game losing skid, when they face the George Mason Patriots on Saturday. Liberty opened 2019 and its first season under head coach Kelly Findley with a 2-1 win over Radford on Aug. 30. However, the Flames have not won since then.
• Liberty is 1-1 on the road, so far in 2019. The Flames dropped their last road contest at Pitt 3-0, this past Friday. Liberty has not met George Mason on the pitch since 2005.
• For the fourth time in the past five seasons, Liberty will face the VMI Keydets on Tuesday at Osborne Stadium. The Flames will be looking for their first home victory of the year. Liberty has won the last four meetings between the two teams, including a 5-0 victory at VMI, last season.
• For the first time in 20 years, the Flames have a new leader. Kelly Findley takes over as head coach of the Liberty men's program. Jeff Alder, who helmed the program for 19 years, stepped down to take another position within the athletic department. A veteran of the coaching ranks, Findley is in his 14h year as a head coach. His previous stops have been at N.C. State, Butler and Mars Hill.
• Liberty returns five starters and eight players who saw significant minutes from last year's 7-7-1 team. Rafael Castro, Shalom Dutey, Ruben Garcia, Matthew Zacyzk and Brogan Engbers were each part of the Flames' starting "11" during 2018.
• The Flames added 11 newcomers to their roster for 2019, including seven transfers.
• Entering their second season of ASUN play, the Flames have been picked to finish fourth in the 2019 ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll. Last season, Liberty posted a 2-3-1 mark in league play, placing fifth.
