Liberty Notables
- Liberty's 5-0 victory at VMI on Tuesday began a three-game road swing, the longest of 2018 for the Flames. The swing also includes matches at UCF and ETSU.
- Liberty and VMI have met each of the last 16 seasons. The Flames have won the last four meetings between the two teams and hold a 22-2-2 mark all-time vs. the Keydets.
- Liberty recorded its first shutout of 2018, Tuesday. Last season, the Flames posted seven shutouts.
- Liberty will be playing in the state of Florida for the first time since 1999 on Friday and has never played in the state during head coach Jeff Alder's 18-year tenure. This season, the Flames will visit the Sunshine State for three matches.
- With three goals and an assist on Tuesday at VMI, Tresor Mbuyu currently leads the ASUN Conference in goals (3), points (8) and shots taken (10).
- Brogan Engbers has started both Liberty contests in goal for the Flames. Tuesday, he recorded his first shutout as a collegian.
- Matthew Zaczyk scored his second goal of the season at VMI on Tuesday. The forward, who scored the game-winner against North Greenville, has netted a goal in each Liberty contest this season.
- Freshman Shane Geisler netted his first career goal at VMI on Tuesday. Freshman Jack Worth picked up his first collegiate point, assisting on Geisler's goal.
- Liberty is in its first season as a member of the ASUN Conference. The Flames will play their first ASUN match at Stetson on Sept. 13.
- Liberty was picked to finish in sixth place in the 2018 ASUN Preseason Men's Soccer Poll. Kevin Mendoza and Mbuyu were named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team.
