
Men's Soccer Heads to Campbell for Big South Match, Friday

The Liberty Flames travel to Buies Creek, N.C., for a match with the Campbell Fighting Camels, Friday. Match time is 7 p.m. at Eakes Athletics Complex. The contest will be the first road Big South contest for the Flames.
With wins over Wofford and Gardner-Webb in their last two matches, the Flames enter Friday's contest with a 5-2-1 overall record.
Head Coach Jeff Alder's Flames opened their 2017 Big South Conference schedule with a 1-0 overtime victory over the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, Tuesday evening at Osborne Stadium. Liberty forward Tresor Mbuyu scored his seventh goal of the season, 8:50 into overtime, to give the Flames the 1-0 win.
Liberty held Gardner-Webb, the nation's highest scoring offense at 3.00 goals per game, to three shots in the contest, while recording its fourth shutout of the season.

- Liberty has outscored its opponents, 18-6, on the year. The Flames currently rank 13th nationally with a 2.25 goals per game average and 26th with a .721 goals against average.
- The Flames are 1-1 on the road in 2017. Liberty defeated host Dayton, 1-0, on Sept. 10 to claim the 2017 Dayton Tournament title in their last road match.

- The Flames were picked to finished third in the league standings in the conference's preseason poll. Tresor Mbuyu was selected the 2017 Big South Preseason Attacking Player of the Year.
