
Lady Flames Drop Big South Match to Panthers

The Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse squad fell to the High Point Panthers, Wednesday afternoon, by the final score of 19-1.
With the loss, Liberty falls to 2-12 overall, including 1-4 in conference action. The Panthers improve to 9-4 and 5-0 in Big South action.
High Point began the contest with the game's first goal with 28:12 remaining in the first half when Allie Foard netted her first of four goals on the day. From that point on the Panthers controlled the remainder of the first half, taking the 12-0 advantage into the locker room.
The Panthers began the second half where they left off in the first, netting the stanza's first four goals to take the 16-0 lead over the Lady Flames.
Liberty's Hannah Pridemore netted the Lady Flames' lone goal with 17:04 remaining in the second half. The freshman's goal, her seventh of the season, came after she corralled the loose ball and raced down the field untouched. The Georgia native's rip found the back of the net to put the Lady Flames on board, trailing 16-1.
High Point netted the final three goals of the contest to solidify the 19-1 victory in favor of the Panthers.
The Panthers held Liberty to its lowest-scoring outing of the season. The Lady Flames' previous low was two goals against No. 6 Notre Dame on March 9.
High Point outshot Liberty 30-9 and won both the ground ball (26-17) and draw control battles (11-10).
Aubrie Tarris picked up the loss for Liberty, yielding three goals. Katherine Widrick finished the contest in between the pipes for the Lady Flames, surrendering 16 goals on 25 shots faced.
The Lady Flames return to action on Saturday when they host Gardner-Webb at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
