With the 2016 Liberty Softball Classic just two days away, Alan York from LFSN had a chance to interview Head Coach Dot Richardson.
The Lady Flames enter the week with an 8-11 record against a challenging non-conference schedule that has featured four games against nationally-ranked opponents. Liberty went 5-3 during the last two weeks in Louisiana, downing Louisiana Tech twice while also defeating Grambling, Lamar and Memphis. Freshmen hold the top two batting averages on the team, in Jaclyn Amader (.344) and Rylee Reynolds (.340), while freshman Julia DiMartino's 2.56 ERA paces the Lady Flames.
Liberty opens its home schedule on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Norfolk State to begin the 2016 Liberty Softball Classic. The Lady Flames will also take on La Salle, Rhode Island and Sacred Heart this weekend at Liberty Softball Stadium.
