
Liberty in 2nd Place Following Day 1 at CCSA Championships

Liberty posted two record-setting performances during the first day at the 2016 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships, Wednesday at Gabrielsen Natatorium. Following three completed events, the Lady Flames are second in the standings.
Defending champion Florida Gulf Coast won both of Wednesday's relays, scoring 189 total points. The Lady Flames follow 10 points behind, with 179. Incarnate Word (169), Georgia Southern (163) and Gardner-Webb (106) round out the top five.
Liberty got off to a good start, as the quartet of Victoria Tschoke (25.50), Prudence Rooker (27.74), Kendall Hough (23.69) and Rachel Hoeve (22.44) took second place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:39.37. The Lady Flames' 1:39.37 ranks second on the program's all-time performers list. Tschoke led off in 25.50, the third-best 50 back in program history. FGCU took first in NCAA B cut time of 1:37.66.
Brooke Fox set a program record with a score of 224.75 in the final of the women's three-meter diving, placing sixth overall. Teammate Madi Long placed seventh, scoring 208.30 points at night.
Natalie Beale led off Liberty's 800 free relay in 1:48.68, setting a new program record in the 200 freestyle in the process. The Lady Flames took second place, in a time of 7:21.70, behind FGCU's CCSA-record 7:13.83. Liberty's relay included Beale (1:48.68), Ashlee Sall (1:50.81), Kristin VanDeventer (1:50.46) and Shelby Black (1:51.75).
Long posted a big final dive of 51.6 in three-meter diving prelims, qualifying in sixth position with a lifetime-best 211.25 points. Brooke Fox placed eighth in qualifying with 194.00. Courtney Fox scored 151.10 points, claiming ninth place overall.
The 2016 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships continue tomorrow, when individual swimming events begin. Tomorrow's morning preliminary heats start at 10 a.m., with the 500 freestyle. Day two also features the 200 individual medley, 50 free and 200 free relay, with finals beginning at 6 p.m.
