
Schedule Changes Announced for Liberty-Coastal Softball Series

Due to adverse weather conditions forecast for Sunday, this week's Big South series between Liberty and Coastal Carolina has been shifted one day. The Lady Flames and Chanticleers will now contest a single game tomorrow (Friday) at 6 p.m. at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium. The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game scheduled for 2 p.m.
Liberty will honor its three senior softball players, Kelby Allen, Jamie Crisp and Megan Robinson, with a brief ceremony prior to Saturday's first game.
The Lady Flames (21-22, 10-8 Big South) clinched their first season with double-digit conference wins since 2011, with a 10-7 comeback victory at Charleston Southern on Sunday. Liberty hosts Virginia Tech for a doubleheader today at 4 p.m., starting a span of five games in three days.
The Chanticleers (27-17, 12-2) have won 11 straight conference games since starting Big South play at 1-2. Coastal brings a nine-game winning streak to Lynchburg after defeating College of Charleston, 8-0, yesterday.
Coastal is 37-29 all-time against Liberty, winning the last eight meetings. Coastal Carolina was Liberty's first Big South softball opponent upon entering the league, meeting on March 12, 1994 in Conway. The Lady Flames' last win over Coastal Carolina was April 15, 2012, when Liberty defeated the Chanticleers, 4-2, in Conway, S.C.
Last season, Coastal Carolina went 4-0 against Liberty, sweeping three games in Conway, S.C., April 5-6, before downing the Lady Flames, 3-1 in the Big South tournament.
The Chanticleers swept Liberty, 5-1 and 10-2, on April 5. During game two, Liberty's Megan Robinson doubled and homered.
Coastal Carolina pulled away for an 11-2 victory in the series finale, April 6.
The host Chanticleers then edged Liberty, 3-1, on May 8 in the conference tournament. Katie Zavodny went 3-for-3 for Liberty, while Morgan Noad homered for Coastal.
Megan Robinson is a .450 hitter (9-for-20) lifetime against Coastal Carolina.
Following this stretch of five games in three days, Liberty concludes its home schedule by hosting doubleheaders against Hampton on Tuesday and Virginia on Wednesday.
