Minutes before the Liberty swimming & diving team left for Athens, Ga., Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network spoke with head coach Jake Shellenberger about this week's 2015 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships.
Liberty looks to defend its CCSA Championship at the 2015 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships. Last year, the Lady Flames ended Florida Gulf Coast's five-year run as conference champion, defeating the Eagles by just 14 points (732.5-718.5). The Lady Flames and FGCU should be the top two contenders for this year's title once again. In each of the last three CCSA Championship meets (2012-14), FGCU and Liberty have taken the top two spots.
At last year's conference championship meet, the Lady Flames placed someone on the podium in each event, completing a total team effort to gain the win over FGCU. For the meet as a whole, Liberty recorded 18 podium finishes, nine NCAA B cuts, one NCAA A cut (200 medley relay), six CCSA records, six meet records and 16 program records.
The 2015 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium, from Wednesday through Saturday. LibertyFlames.com will have continuing coverage throughout this week's championship meet.
