As the Liberty softball team prepares for its 11-day trip to Florida, Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) caught up with senior outfielder Jamie Crisp.
Crisp, a native of Sterling, Va., is one of three seniors on this year's softball roster. She had a fantastic finish to her junior year, being named the Big South Player of the Week following the final week of the regular season. This year, she appeared in the opening-day starting lineup for the second year in a row, recording an outfield assist against No. 23 South Alabama from right field last Friday. She then posted the second three-hit game of her career, going 3-for-4 in an 11-3 win over Houston Baptist. At .375, Crisp is one of six Lady Flames with a .300 or better batting average so far this year.
Crisp and the Lady Flames (1-3) start a nine-game tour of Florida, starting with five games at the Dot Richardson Invitational, Friday through Sunday in Clermont, Fla. While in Clermont, Liberty will face Cleveland State, Arkansas, South Dakota State, Middle Tennessee and UMass Lowell. Next week, the Lady Flames compete in an invitational held by defending national champion No. 1 Florida, and Liberty takes on the Gators Feb. 20 in Gainesville.
