
Lady Flames Post 164-98 Win Over Duquesne in Home Opener

Behind strong performances throughout the lineup, including three wins from Emily Duff, the Liberty swimming team defeated visiting Duquesne, 164-98, Friday at the LaHaye Aquatics Center.
The Lady Flames are now 8-2 in dual-meet competition so far this season following Friday's win in their 2012-13 home opener. The Dukes fall to 2-6 on the campaign heading into a dual meet tomorrow at Mount St. Mary's.

Duff claimed victory in the 200 free (1:55.09), 200 back (2:04.33) and 400 individual medley (4:35.42), swimming her best times of the season in each event. Additionally, her time in the 200 free was a lifetime best and the fastest by a Lady Flame this season.
Liberty went 1-2 in both relays. Liberty's A 200 medley relay team of Brye Ravettine, Emilie Kaufman, Jess Reinhardt and Meghan Babcock swam 1:44.62, good for first place. In the meet-ending 200 free relay, Ravettine, Emily Mudd, Rachel Nelson and Kaufman gained the victory in 1:37.78.
Ravettine took first in the 100 back, touching the wall in 59.11. Teammate Ranndi Grubbs followed in second place at 1:01.34. Ravettine later won the 50 free in 24.21, with Kendall Hough taking third in 25.17.
Jess Reinhardt captured a pair of individual wins, sweeping both the 100 fly (55.49) and 200 fly (2:08.70).
Duquesne won three events, beginning with the 1000 free, which Kylie Dickman won in 10:45.10. Liberty's Hannah Wakeley took second in the 1000 free, swimming 10:47.42. Dickman and Wakeley went 1-2 in the 500 free as well, with Dickman swimming 5:14.58 and Wakeley clocking 5:19.22.
Laura Day led from start to finish in the 100 breaststroke, winning by over six seconds with a time of 1:05.35. Kaufman later posted a 200 breaststroke victory in 2:20.17, with Day taking second in 2:27.49.
Duquesne's Sam Ray narrowly out-touched Liberty's Chloe Thomas at the wall to win the 100 free, 53.22 to 53.29.
Hough added a second-place finish behind Duff in the 200 back with a time of 2:10.10. Bethany Wakeley's 1:00.13 in the 100 fly gave her second place, while Kaufman contributed a runner-up finish in the 200 free by swimming 1:56.00.
The Lady Flames will complete the home portion of their 2012-13 schedule on Jan. 26 when they host Marshall at 11 a.m. inside the LaHaye Aquatic Center.
