Liberty Routs Dartmouth, 11-0

The Lady Flames jumped on the board early, scoring four runs on six hits as they batted around in the bottom of the first.
Danielle Howard led off with a double to right center, followed by a bunt single by Jenny Law that advanced her to third. Kaylee West then doubled down the right field line to give Liberty a two-run lead.
Strickland then stepped up to rip a single down the right field line to score West. She was thrown out at second on the next play, when Ashley Bensinger reached on a fielder's choice, and J'nae Jefferson was out on a sacrifice bunt that advanced Bensinger to second. Designated player Keely McMillon then reached on an infield single, and Bensinger crossed the plate when Amber DePasquale doubled to left, giving the Lady Flames a 4-0 advantage.
Liberty batted around again in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on three hits and three errors by Dartmouth second baseman Kirsten Costello. Three of those runs came from Strickland's one-out homer over the center field fence, scoring Law, who walked, and West, who reached on the first error of the inning.
Bensinger followed up with an infield single, and after Jefferson flied out, McMillon reached on the second error by Costello. DePasquale was then hit by a pitch to load up the bases with two outs.
The problems continued for Costello, as Hendrix was safe at first due to another error by the second baseman, a throwing error that sailed high, and was able to advance to second. DePasquale moved to third and McMillon and Bensinger crossed home on the play.
The Lady Flames weren't done yet, as leadoff batter Howard stepped in the box to drill a single up the middle, driving in two more runs and giving Liberty an 11-0 edge.
Freshman hurler Katie Warrington held the Big Green hitless until the bottom of the fourth, when Nikki Yee reached on a hard-hit infield single. After Yee advanced to second on a wild pitch, she moved onto third when Noelle Ramirez singled up the middle. After Leigha Clarkson grounded out to West at first, the Big Green had runners on second and third with one out.
But the Liberty defense was up for the challenge, as Warrington made a play on a grounder by Alyssa Parker for the second out, and struck out Molly Khalil to send the game into the bottom of the fourth.
Neither team generated any more offense for the remainder of the contest, and Liberty walked away with the decisive 11-0 shutout victory.
Strickland led the Lady Flames, batting 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored, while Howard was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and West batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Dartmouth was led by Ramirez, who batted 1-for-2, and Yee, who was 1-for-1.
Warrington (2-1) picked up her second win of the year in the circle, giving up three hits and striking out three batters in five complete innings for the shutout.
Kat Hicks (0-1) took the loss, giving up nine hits and striking out one batter.
Liberty improves to 4-2 on the year, while Dartmouth, who lost earlier today to Bowling Green, drops to 0-2.
The Lady Flames are back in action this afternoon in the Buzz Classic, taking on Kennesaw State. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
