Denham Names Venter as Graduate Assistant

Liberty head lacrosse coach Regan Denham announced that Jennifer Venter has joined the program for its inaugural year as a graduate assistant coach.
"I am very excited for Jen to be joining our staff," said Denham. "Starting her career at UMBC and finishing at Messiah, she really understands what draws students to a Christian university. Jen was an outstanding goalie for the Falcons and will be instrumental in preparing our goalies for our first year of Division I competition."
Venter started her collegiate career at D-I UMBC before finishing up at Messiah, in Grantham, Pa. The Crownsville, Md. native helped lead Messiah from the goalie position to the D-III NCAA Tournament and a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) championship during her senior campaign.
Venter finished the postseason as the MAC Tournament most valuable player, finishing with a totaling 29 saves in two league playoff games, while allowing just nine scores. Messiah finished the season 14-5 and Venter helped lead the charge, saving goals at a .514 clip.
A three-year starter after transferring from UMBC, Venter left her thumbprint on the Messiah program, fishing second all-time in career saves (450), while helping the program to its second MAC championship and NCAA appearance ever.
"Beginning my coaching career at a university with the mission of Liberty is an exciting opportunity," remarked Venter. "It is a special undertaking to start a program and I am blessed to assist Coach Denham as she ushers in a Christian university's lacrosse program at the Division I level."
Venter graduated from Messiah in May 2009 with a degree in sport management. She currently resides in the Lynchburg area.
