Due to the forecast of inclement weather in Lynchburg for Friday, the schedule for the Big South softball series between Liberty and Charleston Southern has been altered.
Originally slated for two games on Friday and a third on Saturday, the series will now feature a pair of afternoon contests on Saturday and the finale on Sunday. Opening pitch from inside the circle will be 1 p.m. on both days, at Liberty Softball Field.
Charleston Southern enters the Big South series leading the league with a 5-1 conference record and a 19-18 overall mark. The Lady Flames dropped all three games during their conference opener last weekend at preseason favorite Winthrop and now stand 0-3 in the league and 11-21 overall.
Liberty holds a 29-9 all-time series mark against Charleston Southern, after taking two out of three games from the Buccaneers in Charleston, last year, and a third at the Big South Softball Championship. The last time the two squads squared off against each other at the Liberty Softball Field was in 2007, when Liberty swept the weekend tilt (4-1, 4-2 and 7-2).
