Liberty junior guard/forward Megan Frazee tallied nearly half (21) of the Lady Flames' points during a 45-38 triumph over in-state foe Richmond, Saturday at the Vines Center. As a result, she has garnered her second Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week honor this season, the conference office announced this morning.
Frazee (Xenia, Ohio) paced all players in Saturday's contest with her fourth 20-point game of the season. She drained a season-best two three-pointers and also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
The junior ranks in the top three of five Big South statistical categories—scoring (first, 17.1 ppg), free throw percentage (first, .897), defensive rebounds (second, 6.0 rpg), rebounding (third, 8.6 rpg) and field goal percentage (third, .483). She sits No. 14 nationally in free throw percentage.
Frazee is the first conference performer to win a pair of player of the week awards this year, while Liberty becomes the first Big South team to capture the distinction three times. (Sister Moriah Frazee (Jr., F, Xenia, Ohio) was voted Big South Player of the Week on Dec. 10.) Megan Frazee is now an eight-time Big South Player of the Week. She earned the award twice as a freshman, four times last season and two times during 2007-08.
Frazee and the Lady Flames will play the final road game of their non-conference schedule tomorrow evening at East Tennessee State (5-7, 1-0 Atlantic Sun). Tip-off for the first meeting between the Lady Flames and Buccaneers since 1999 is set for 7 p.m., at the Memorial Center.
