Reagan Underwood stepped into her role as Liberty Field Hockey Assistant Coach in June 2025.
During his first season on the coaching staff (fall 2025), Underwood and Liberty posted a 17-3 overall mark and perfect 7-0 BIG EAST regular season record to claim the outright regular season title. The Lady Flames went on to win BIG EAST Championship title on their home turf, defeating No. 2 seed UConn 2-1 in overtime. Liberty ended the year sixth in the final national poll, the best mark to end a season in program history, and No. 7 in the final NCAA Field Hockey RPI. The Lady Flames earned three wins over top-20 teams during the season, including a 4-3 win at No. 5 Duke (trailed 3-0) to open the season.
Underwood coached five All-BIG EAST selections during the 2025 season, led by NFHCA All-America second team honoree and unanimous BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year Dara Semmartin along with BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and All-BIG EAST first team selection Diane Saint Martin. Liberty featured four NFHCA All-South Region selections in Semmartin (first team), Lou Combrinck (first team), Josefina Tomasi (first team) and Saint Martin (second team). Semmartin (first team), Saint Martin (first team), Combrinck (first team), Tomasi (second team) and Julieta Tornati (second team) each earned All-BIG EAST nods.
Underwood joined the staff after playing for Liberty five seasons (spring 2021-24). Underwood enjoyed a highly successful career while at Liberty and was named a 2024 NFHCA All-America second team selection. She also earned the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award for field hockey during the fall 2021 season.
Underwood helped Liberty win BIG EAST Championship titles in 2021 (fall) and 2022 and BIG EAST regular season crowns in 2021 (fall), 2022 and 2023. She was part of the Liberty team that won a school-record 20 games and made the national championship game during the fall 2021 campaign. Underwood closed out her career as a two-time NFHCA All-South Region selection, two-time All-BIG EAST honoree and two-time BIG EAST All-Tournament team member. Academically, Underwood was a four-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, four-time NFHCA National Academic Squad member, two-time CSC Academic All-District® Team member and five-time BIG EAST All-Academic team selection. Underwood is the program’s all-time leader in career starts (97) and currently ranks No. 8 in school history with 28 career assists.
Underwood was a member of the Liberty track & field team during her final semester as a student-athlete in spring 2025, competing as a distance runner.
Underwood earned a bachelor’s degree from Liberty in digital media and journalism and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in professional communication: promotional and video communication.
