- Email:
Former Radford head coach Kevin Fagan was hired by Liberty in June of 2026 and currently serves as associate head coach for the Liberty softball program.
He serves primarily as the Lady Flames’ pitching coach, while also assisting with instruction during practice and in games.
Fagan replaced his daughter, Kasey Fagan Graham, who served as Liberty’s associate head coach since 2022 and left in 2026 following a highly-successful nine-year stint on Richardson’s coaching staff. Kevin Fagan will join daughters Sami Fagan Harmon (assistant coach) and Haley Sampson (director of operations).
Fagan came to Liberty after spending two seasons (2025, 2026) as head coach at Radford. Fagan’s time at Radford was highlighted by leading the Highlanders to the 2025 Big South regular-season championship. For his efforts, he was named 2025 Big South Softball Coach of the Year. His players received two Big South Pitcher of the Year honors, one Big South Freshman of the Year, one Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year and 13 all-conference selections.
The Highlanders appeared on D1Softball’s Mid-Major Poll during five weeks of 2025, and Radford earned Power Four victories over Louisville and Boston College during Fagan’s time at the helm.
In his first season at Radford, he led the Highlanders to a 30-26 overall record, including 14-4 in Big South play. Radford’s 30 overall wins in 2025 were its most since 2018, while the team posted its most conference wins since 2014 and its first conference tournament game victory since 2021. Radford also posted its first Big South series victories over both Longwood and USC Upstate in program history during the 2025 season.
Fagan joined the Highlanders after spending four seasons with Division II Emmanuel (Ga.) where the Lions amassed a 121-96 record during his tenure. The Lions reached new heights in the program's history over that span, including their most overall wins, most conference wins, first-ever conference Player of the Year and first-ever NFCA All-American. They also reached a program-high ninth in the regional rankings.
In 2022, Emmanuel broke every offensive, pitching and defensive record in school history. In his first season with Lions in 2021, Fagan led the program to their first-ever Conference Carolinas Championship, earning their first-ever bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Prior to Emmanuel, Fagan spent seven seasons at the junior college level with the College of Central Florida, posting a 355-68 overall record. During his tenure, the Patriots never had a losing season. Before Fagan arrived there, the Patriots had never finished higher than fourth in their conference standings before going on to dominate the Mid-Florida Conference and the NJCAA. From 2014-2020, he coached the Patriots to several firsts, including first conference championship, first Region 8 championship, first national championship tournament appearance (2015-2nd, 2019-3rd), first national ranking in school history and first NJCAA No. 1 ranking in school history.
From 2009-2012, Fagan coached his daughters in travel ball on Team North Florida, where they consistently competed for a national championship. In his four years as a coach, the team won ASA Gold Nationals, Champions Cup, Colorado Independence Day Tournament and the inaugural NFCA tournament. The team placed third at the Premier National Championship in his last year as the head coach. During that time, he produced 50 scholarship players, including 14 that played in the Division 1 Women's College World Series.
Coach Fagan also coached his three older daughters at Dunnellon High School where they won two Florida state championships, were ESPN national champions, produced three Gatorade Players of the Year, seven all-state players and three All-Americans.
Prior to his time on the softball scene, Fagan was an accomplished football player at the collegiate and professional level. In 1983, he was a member of the Miami Hurricanes national championship team that won the Orange Bowl. After his collegiate career, he joined the San Francisco 49ers as a defensive end and was an integral part of the defense that helped win a pair of Super Bowls.
Coach Fagan is married to Nancy (Cotton) Fagan. They have six children Kasey, Sami, Haley, Cole, Cameron and Jack. All four of his daughters played softball for Power Four teams.
