Ayanna Johnson returned to her alma mater in September 2023 to serve as director of operations for the Liberty track & field/cross country program.
She spent the 2022-23 track & field season across town, serving as the jumps coach at Randolph College.
Johnson was part of the Liberty track & field program for six years (2016-22), capping off her career by placing 19th in the women’s long jump at the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Johnson long jumped a personal-best 20-8 at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on May 4, 2022, shattering a school record that had lasted for 38 years. She also owns the Liberty indoor long jump record at 19-10.25.
The 2021 ASUN indoor women’s long jump champion, Johnson was a five-time All-ASUN performer for her career between the long jump and 60 dash.
A native of New Oxford, Pa., Johnson graduated from Liberty with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications in 2020. She is working toward a master’s degree in developmental psychology.
