After spending her final season of collegiate competition at Liberty in 2025, Akilah Lewis is remaining in the Hill City to serve as an assistant coach. In this role, Lewis primarily works with the Flames’ sprinters.

Lewis qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet in both the 100 and 4 x 100 relay, helping lower the Lady Flames’ 4 x 100 record to 44.49. She was part of record-setting 4 x 100 squads at all three of her collegiate institutions (also Minnesota and Ole Miss).

Lewis raced to a third-place finish in the 2025 CUSA women’s 100 final and went on to take third in the Trinidad and Tobago women’s 100 final as well.

Lewis enjoyed a memorable 2024, competing for Trinidad and Tobago’s women’s 4 x 100 relay squad in the Paris Olympics. She also helped Ole Miss race to the 2024 NCAA Division I women’s 4 x 100 relay national title.

Competing for Minnesota, Lewis earned second team All-America honors at 60 meters with a 14th-place showing at the 2023 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships. Earlier that season, Lewis was the Big Ten women’s 60 runner-up.

The sister of former Liberty standout sprinter Omari Lewis is currently working toward an MBA. She previously graduated from Minnesota in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in finance and human resource & industrial relations.
