Joanna Hardin is currently in her second year with the Lady Flames’ softball program, having joined the staff during the summer of 2007 as a graduate assistant.
As a first-year coach, Hardin was part of a staff to lead the Lady Flames to a runner-up finish in the 2008 Big South Championship.
Hardin, who directly works with the Lady Flames’ pitching staff, comes to Liberty after a highly successful career at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif.
Hardin started all but one game for the Eagles during her 209-game career, earning first-team GSAC all-conference honors three times. During her freshman year, she was named a NAIA and NFCA first-team All-American as an outfielder, batting .419 with 41 runs scored, 20 doubles, five home runs and 52 RBI.
Hardin finished her career batting an impressive .364 with 112 runs scored, 47 doubles, nine triples, 143 RBI, a .545 slugging percentage and a school record 16 home runs. A versatile athlete, Hardin pitched two years for Biola, tallying a 7-9 record inside the circle, with a 3.79 ERA, three shutouts and a save during 111 innings of work.
The native of Fullerton, Calif., is currently pursing her master’s degree in human services at Liberty, after receiving her undergraduate degree in biblical and theological studies at Biola. The former Joanna Gray married Travis Hardin on July 3, 2005, and the couple currently resides in the Lynchburg area.
