Trevor Foshey joined the Liberty men’s tennis staff in June 2019 following an excellent four-year playing career at Mississippi State.
In his first three seasons at Liberty, Foshey and the Flames have posted a combined 41-24 record and are two-time ASUN champions. Liberty finished the 2021 season ranked No. 39 in the nation. The Flames captured the 2021 ASUN Conference Title, defeating Florida Gulf Coast 4-0 in the final, and advanced to the NCAA Team Championships. The Flames posted a perfect 12-0 record at home in 2021. Foshey and Liberty defeated FGCU 4-2 in the ASUN Tournament final, giving the Flames back-to-back conference titles. Liberty faced NC State in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Foshey and the Flames finished the 2022 campaign with a No. 66 national ranking.
In the 2020 season, Foshey and the Flames posted an 8-6 record. Liberty defeated an ACC school for the first time, topping Virginia Tech 4-3. The Flames also earned their first triumph in program history over a Big 10 foe, defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions 5-2.
During his playing career, Foshey and the Mississippi State Bulldogs won back-to-back SEC Men’s Tennis Tournament titles in 2018 and 2019. Mississippi State also finished No. 5 in the NCAA in 2018 and No. 9 in 2019.
“We are honored to have Trevor join our staff. He is a great communicator, culture builder and hard worker,” said Liberty Men’s Tennis Head Coach Derek Schwandt. “He has strong passion for tennis and for team. He will make us stronger in every aspect of our team’s core values: fight, discipline, unity, servanthood and humility. Trevor was a leader for that Mississippi State, and he will have a tremendous impact on the Flames.”
Individually, Foshey earned the 2019 ITA Most Improved Senior Award for the Southern section. The St. Cloud, Fla., native reached as high as No. 7 in the nation in doubles and No. 93 in the country in singles.
