Ashley Pereira assumed her current role of Director of Operations in July 2022. Pereira works with the Liberty volleyball and golf programs.
In her current position, Pereira assists her coaches and teams with the day-to-day team and business operations. Her areas of responsibility include team travel, recruiting, equipment, budget, procurement and reconciliation.
Prior to stepping into her current position, Pereira began a graduate internship with Liberty Athletics Administration in June 2022. In that position, she worked directly with the Director of Operations for the field hockey and women’s soccer programs, assisting with tasks such as reconciliation of Pcard charges, research of travel accommodations, equipment room inventory and submission of requisitions for equipment and contracts. Prior to that, Pereira served as a student worker with Liberty Academic Affairs for Athletics from January through May of 2022. In that role, she provided tutoring services to Liberty’s student-athletes and assisted with various administrative tasks such as creating game plans for student-athletes.
Pereira also worked as the Lynchburg Site Director for the Focus Field Hockey Club from January through July 2022, focusing on creating growth of the game of field hockey in the Lynchburg area. Additionally, she helped create the Focus Leadership Program, a club-wide curriculum dedicated to the growth of Focus Field Hockey athletes as players, people and professionals.
Pereira completed an undergraduate internship with Academic Affairs for Athletics in the summer of 2020. She worked alongside the staff to coordinate and implement its freshmen athlete transition program, Summer Bridge. Pereira also served as a practicum student from January from March of 2019 under Liberty’s Student-Athlete Development Coordinator. In this role, she organized over $7,000 worth of supplies to be donated to the Lynchburg City Schools, assisted in the planning and implementation of Liberty Athletics’ Spooktacular event and supervised the assembly and donation process of Liberty Athletics’ Blessing Bags initiative.
Pereira (formerly Dykema) was a five-year member of the Liberty field hockey team from 2017-21. Pereira and the 2021 Liberty field hockey squad made school history by winning their first BIG EAST crown and advanced all the way to the title game of the 2021 Division I Field Hockey Championship. Pereira’s decorated career saw her named to the 2019 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America second team. Her other accomplishments included: BIG EAST Co-Defensive Player of the Year (2019), two-time NFHCA All-South Region, three-time All-BIG first team, three-time VaSID All-State first time, five-time NFHCA National Academic Squad, NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and five-time BIG EAST All-Academic team.
Pereira competed alongside her sisters, Bethany (for three years) and Emily (for two years), on the Liberty field hockey team as well as their brother, Corey (practice player).
Pereira earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Liberty in May 2021, graduating with summa cum laude honors. She also received a double minor in sport outreach and psychology. Pereira went on to earn a master’s degree in sport management: coaching and athletic administration from Liberty in May 2022 and graduated with high distinction (4.0 GPA).
Pereira and her husband, John, currently reside in Lynchburg.
