Former Liberty football player B.J. Hayes returned to his alma mater in February 2014 and currently serves as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football.
He currently assists with day-to-day operations with the football program.
Prior to working with Liberty Football, Hayes worked with Liberty Club sports teams where he designed and implemented training programs for men’s wrestling and volleyball also assisted with men’s and women’s hockey.
A native of South Brunswick, Va., Hayes earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology from Liberty in 2012. Hayes was a four-year letterwinner with the Flames (2008-11), helping Liberty win three Big South titles.
The wide receiver earned All-Big South second-team honors in 2010 and finished his playing career with 112 career receptions, 1,135 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Following his playing days with the Flames, Hayes received an NFL tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012.
Hayes and his wife, Shontarris, currently reside in Lynchburg, Va. with their three kids - Ashton, Aaliyah and Alina.
