Adam Ward begins his second year as an assistant coach with Flames. Ward coaches the Flames’ outfielders, serves as the team’s first base coach and assists with the team’s catchers and on-campus recruiting. In addition, Ward coordinates and oversees the Jim Toman Baseball Camps and field maintenance.
In his first season with the Flames, Ward assisted in guiding the Flames to a school-record 42 victories and to the runner-up position in the Big South Championship. The former collegiate catcher set the team’s outfield defense during games and saw one of the outfielders under his instruction, Curran Redal, earn 2010 Big South all-conference honors.
Ward helped organize and plan several baseball camps during the year. He also assisted in planning the baseball program’s Alumni Weekend during Homecoming Weekend, this past fall.
Ward joined the Liberty coaching staff after working for four years with the North Charleston Dixie Youth Majors. In four years with North Charleston, Ward helped guide the team to two State Championships in 2007 and 2008 and World Series Championships in 2006 and 2009. Ward gained valuable experience with North Charleston, coaching every position on the field at various times during his time with the team.
Ward played collegiately at Clemson from 2007-2009. The catcher was a two-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and graduated in 2008 from Clemson with a bachelor’s of science in economics. He is currently working towards completing his master’s degree in economics from Clemson.
A native of Hanahan, S.C, Ward lives in Lynchburg.
