Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, July 9, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
Flames football is entering year three under head coach Jamey Chadwell and looks to improve upon last year's 8-4 record. The Flames made a sixth straight bowl game but were unable to get back to the Conference USA title game. Third-year running back Vaughn Blue says better connection off the field will help this year's team reach it's goals on the field.
"I think that's a big thing that we were missing last year was that all of our players - we would practice and have good practices, have good meetings and everything like that, but once we got outside of football our team wouldn't really hang out as much, and I feel like the outside of football connection of the whole team hanging out, outside of football, it just brings guys closer. It makes guys want to play for each other more. It makes you know when you get into a tight situation in the game you really trust all your brothers around you that they're going to do their job, because they're going to do it for you and you're going to do it for them."
