Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, May 29, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
After guiding the team to it's best season in program history, Liberty's Dot Richardson is the D1 Softball Mid-Major Coach of the Year. This year, Richardson led the Lady Flames to a school-record 50 wins, the Conference USA title and the College Station Regional Championship.
More postseason accolades also roll in for Flames softball right fielder Rachel Roupe. On Wednesday, Roupe was named an NFCA All-American and was also named the Rawlings Gold Glove winner for All-Division I right fielders. Roupe becomes the first player in program history to receive either honor.
On to track & field, from Wednesday's NCAA Division I East First Rounds meet, in Jacksonville, Fla., Liberty's Kellen Kimes qualifies for nationals in the men's hammer. Kimes finished 11th in the event, improving from 44th place last year.
The Flames will compete in eight more events today.
