Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, April 7, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
Starting with baseball, Liberty sweeps it's Conference USA series against Middle Tennessee. Sunday in Lynchburg, the Flames got a 12-2 win over the Blue Raiders, in eight innings by run rule. Jaxon Sorenson hit the game-winning home run in the eighth inning, one of seven the Flames hit in the game. That came one shy of tying the school single-game record.
On to softball, the Lady Flames took two of three in it's CUSA series against the Blue Raiders. Saturday in Lynchburg, Liberty swept a doubleheader, winning game one 8-4 and game two, 5-4. The Lady Flames sit atop the conference standings at 13-1. Liberty will host Virginia on Tuesday night.
And a pair of Flames men's track athletes post scorching times at the Florida Relays. Saturday, Elijah Sherard set a freshman program record in the 400 with a time of 46.65 and Omari Lewis posted a 10.05 in the men's 100; that mark is tied for fifth in the nation.
