
Parra Romero and Lovato Close Out Super Regional With 3 Total Victories

Liberty's Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Esther Lovato wrapped up their time at the ITA Atlantic Super Regional on Saturday at the Virginia Tennis Complex at Boar's Head Sports Club.
Parra Romero bowed out of the singles main draw in the round of 16 today. The Liberty freshman squared off against the first nationally-ranked foe of her career, No. 5 seed and No. 77-ranked Tatsiana Sasnouskaya of Old Dominion. Sasnouskaya prevailed 6-1, 6-3, handing Parra Romero only her second singles loss of the season.
Parra Romero bounced back in her second match of the day, edging Virginia's Hibah Shaikh in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4). The Liberty freshman's victory was her team-best 10th of the fall.
Liberty's time at the ITA Atlantic Super Regional has ended. The Lady Flames won three total singles matches at the event featuring the region's best players. Parra Romero finished with a 2-1 record, while her teammate Esther Lovato closed the tournament with a 1-2 mark.
Key Stats & Notes
• Lovato, the 120th-ranked singles player in the country, played a three-set match today against Penn State's Alina Lebedeva. Lebedeva came back to edge Lovato 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).
• Lovato is 6-2 in fall singles contests.
• Between the Lady Flames' two regional tournaments this fall, the ITA Atlantic South Regional and ITA Atlantic Super Regional, Parra Romero posted a 5-1 singles record.
• Parra Romero's round of 16 counterpart, Sasnouskaya, won her quarterfinal match as well and will compete in tomorrow's semifinal round.
