Leja Tabbed CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week for Shutout Performance

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty goalkeeper Ainsley Leja has been named the Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Leja guided Liberty to a 2-0 week by not allowing a goal in nearly 120 minutes of play against James Madison and Old Dominion.
Leja represents Liberty's first Player of the Week honor this season. The sixth-year goalkeeper receives the sixth such award of her career.
Liberty finished non-conference play 7-2-1 with a shutout 1-0 victory over JMU and held off ODU for a 2-1 triumph. The goalkeeper sports a 5-1-1 record in 10 appearances and seven starts. She carries season averages of a 0.77 goals-against average and an .812 save percentage.
Leja played a full 90-minutes against JMU, tying a season high of six saves in the contest. The shutout marked her third of the season and the 24th of her career.
On Senior Day against JMU, Leja played for 28 minutes as three goalkeepers saw time protecting the goal. Leja entered in the second half and did not permit a goal, allowing Liberty to take the lead in the 71st minute. Her time earned her a fifth win in the 2026 season and the 37th win of her career.
Liberty (7-2-1) will enjoy a 13-day break until they open Conference USA action at home against Western Kentucky (5-0-3) on Saturday, Sept. 26.
