
Reverse Sweep Highlights Liberty's 1-1 Day at Hofstra Invitational

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Liberty went 1-1 on day one at the Hofstra Invitational, falling in straight sets to Army (19-25, 13-25, 17-25) before pulling off a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Hofstra (21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-6), Friday at the David C. Mack Physical Education Center.
The Lady Flames' record stands at 5-4 following today's action, while Hofstra falls to 4-3. Army (6-1) takes on Fairfield tonight at 7 p.m.

Juliette Myrick totaled 22 assists, 11 digs and seven kills, hitting .500 on the attack. Nicole Stroud collected a match-high 13 digs, while Naomi Chinchar led all players with three aces and Victoria Kasanganay posted a match-high three blocks.
- Jenna Otts scored a team-high 11 kills for Liberty, while Paige Overcash sent down eight kills. Alison Bierwagen dished out a match-high 25 assists, while Melis Ural corraled a team-best 12 digs. Laney Daniell (.500) and Carly O'Brien both scored six kills.
- Set one proved to be the closest of the match, with eight ties and five lead changes. Army used a 6-2 run to pull out to a 20-15 lead. Liberty then scored back-to-back points, including a Laney Daniell kill to make it 20-17. However, Hannah Hankerson scored three kills down the stretch to help the Black Knights win, 25-19.
- Army took sets two and three, hitting .500 or better in both sets.
- Army tied the all-time series with Liberty in volleyball at 2-2. Liberty won the last meeting, 3-0, on Sept. 1, 2023 at Army. The Black Knights' last win in the series before today was a five-set win over the Lady Flames, Sept. 16, 2006.

Layla Collins posted a match-high 10 blocks, while Paige Overcash added seven blocks to her 11 kills. Melis Ural collected 13 digs, while Laney Daniell totaled eight kills and three blocks.
